Quiet Presence

This portrait is part of my ongoing Art for Baba series, a body of work inspired by the life, love, and universal message of Meher Baba. Rather than striving for photographic realism, I seek to capture the feeling of his presence through simplified forms, bold lines, and carefully balanced values.

Working in a limited grayscale palette allowed me to focus on what matters most: expression, light, and inner stillness. Every shape was intentionally reduced to its essential form, creating a composition that is both graphic and contemplative. The strong black contours provide structure, while the subtle shifts in gray invite the viewer to slow down and discover the quiet depth within the portrait.

For me, painting Meher Baba is an act of meditation. Each brushstroke becomes an opportunity to reflect on compassion, silence, and unconditional love. My hope is that the finished work offers more than a likeness. I hope it creates a moment of peace, encouraging viewers to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the stillness that exists within themselves.

Baba's Favorite Photo

This painting is my personal interpretation of what is widely known as Meher Baba’s favorite photograph of himself. Rather than creating a literal copy, I reimagined the image through my own artistic language, transforming a treasured historical photograph into a joyful, contemporary work of art.

The familiar pose remains, but the realism gives way to simplified forms, expressive outlines, and vibrant colors that invite viewers to experience Baba with fresh eyes. The large, gentle eyes, rounded features, and warm smile are intended to reflect the innocence, compassion, and playful spirit that so many people experienced in his presence. The bold colors and graphic shapes celebrate the happiness and love that radiated from him while preserving the dignity of the original photograph.

This painting is part of my ongoing Art for Baba collection, a series dedicated to making Meher Baba’s image approachable for people of all ages and artistic backgrounds. By blending influences from mid-century illustration, folk art, and modern graphic design, I hope to create artwork that feels both timeless and inviting.
